On 10th April , The UN Sustainable Development Network youth initiative released its # knowyourgoals campaign report showcasing the efforts of 150 communities and organisations across the world out of which Chhattisgarh's MyBeti has also been given a place .This campaign is meant to increase awareness of the UN sustainable development goals and was launched in June 2017 .
There were 150 events in 38 countries involving more than 10,000 people and another 28000 people on social media .Some events are highlighted are highlighted in the report , one of them being noted educationist Dr Jawahar Surisetti's MyBeti .
Dr Jawahar had in 2017 conducted the first of its kind online world conference for motivating women and girl child as an outreach . On the platform of MyBeti online conference he brought actresses , singers , businesswomen , entrepreneurs and Achievers to tell their life stories of their struggle to success and motivate women and girls not to quit and move forward in life to achieve success . More than 5250 women and girls participated in this unique event and 32 women Achievers in their 2 minute messages conveyed their story translated into the native language by local translators. This one of a kind event had caught the attention of the world .
Dr Jawahar had in his two decade old Research report highlighted the plight of girls in the interiors who were using ash and dirty cloth instead of sanitary napkins and was one of the first to talk about the health hazards to these girls and also spoke about increased drop out in girls of these ages from schools . It was only now that the Indian government took cognisance and raised the alarm for separate girls toilets in schools , clean water and availability of sanitary napkins .
Dr Jawahar said that he was happy that MyBeti is featured in this report and he also said that as a proud Indian he would continue his efforts in making this world a better place .
