UNHCR Response

Shelter/ NFI Support

As a result of unexpected obstacles relating to administrative barriers and logistical constraints, the distribution of NFI kits had to be rescheduled for 01 - 02 December. A total of 276 kits were distributed to 1,422 IDPs in Mbalangui village, Meme division, bringing the total number of NFI kits distributed so far to 586 and covering the needs of 3,522 persons.

Two REACH needs assessment experts, arrived in Buea, to undertake a comprehensive shelter/ NFI and WASH related needs assessments, on behalf of UNHCR in the IDP-hosting regions of SW/NW, West and Littoral.

At least 2,336 households have been identified as being urgently in need of shelter assistance and another 1, 461 in need of NFI support.

Efforts are being made to address these needs as soon as possible.

Protection Delivery

Relevant sensitization activities including round table discussions on GBV and HIV/ Aids, marked the launch of 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence in SW/NW regions.

At least 100 protection monitoring missions have been undertaken this week, which has resulted in the identification and documentation of 320 cases involving human rights violations and abuses. This brings to 625, the total number of protection incidents recorded in the last two weeks.

In an effort to further build the capacity of local NGOs, a training delivery plan intended to be implemented in the first six months of 2019, has been developed and shared with the relevant UN agencies and INGOs as well as ICRC, expected to cover training modules, in their areas of expertise.
