Colorado's mountains are expected to get a quick blast of snow on Friday which could make driving difficult, but the metro area should only see minimal impacts.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect rain and snow showers in Denver mainly before 10 a.m. on Friday, but very little, if any, is expected to stick.

The high temperature in Denver is expected to reach 52 degrees on Friday, the weather service said, with winds that increase in intensity throughout the day.

Expect winds to be about 19 to 29 mph in the Denver metro area on Friday, with gusts reaching as high as 44 mph, the weather service said.

Driving conditions shouldn't be impacted in the Denver metro area, the weather service said, except for in the foothills west of Highway 93 in areas such as Evergreen, Conifer, Idaho Springs and Nederland.

Colorado's mountains should expect a burst of moderate snow and windy conditions Friday morning which will lead to snow-covered roads and hazardous driving conditions, the weather service said.

The weather service said gusty winds are expected across the Eastern Plains on Friday where a High Wind Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Gusts could exceed 60 mph out on the Eastern Plains on Friday, the weather service said.

Conditions should begin to improve in Denver on Saturday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 49 degrees expected, the weather service said.

Sunday should be sunny with a high of 64 degrees, meteorologists said.
