Burkina Faso hosts approximately 34 000 Malian refugees living in and around two camps in the Sahel Region. The country knows also some urban refugees and asylum seekers.
Given the prolonged crisis in Mali, UNHCR is reorienting its programs towards the transition from traditional assistance to livelihood activities and cash based interventions.
Following several security incidents since 2016, refugees are more and more prone to stigmatisation from the host community.
