Berlin man dies after rollover crash, police say
A Berlin man died after being thrown from his truck in a rollover crash in Gorham, police said.Gorham police were called Monday to Route 16 near the Cascades Flats intersection.Responding officers said they found a Ford F-250 on its roof in the middle of the roadway.The owner, Maurice Giroux, 60, of Berlin, was ejected from the vehicle, officials said. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital, where he later died.Investigators said that Giroux was traveling north at a high rate of speed in an area where the posted speed limit was 40 mph.While attempting to pass a 2016 Ford F-350, driven by John Mackenzie, 35, of Berlin, Giroux struck the front of Mackenzie’s vehicle, causing Giroux to lose control and his Ford F-250 to roll over, police said.Officials said it appears that speed may have been a factor in this crash, but all aspects remain under investigation.Anyone who may have further information or who may have witnessed the crash is encouraged to contact Gorham Police Cpl.
